Worst Exeperience I've had with Holiday Inn Express

Never have I ever had to put down towels to make a path on the floor from the shower to the bed to avoid my feet touching the floor. The bathroom was so poorly ventilated that it was literally raining on me as I stood at the sink. Not only is that bad for the guest, that bad for the integrity of the building. The plaster was peeling off the walls and ceiling, the mattress was nasty and we did not have proper sheets. I had to physically move the furniture to get the sofa bed to open all the way. The breakfast was less than desirable. There was really nothing to choose from. However , The women running the breakfast area was great!
The ice machine was broken/out of order and the water fountain was in the same condition.
All of this is unacceptable.

Great service

The first time I was able to book a room was phenomenal. So I decided to book a room again just have kids with me this time. Get in the hallway you hear the kids upstairs running through their room they booked all day all night. Then someone was having sex & you can hear them as you get off the elevator. This was one of my favorite spots but I’ll have to try different hotels now due to this time I couldn’t get any rest & wish i could have gotten my money back & went somewhere else.

Comfortable bed, and room but bathroom was not clean at all!

I escalated during my checkout that the bathroom was not clean when I arrived. I took pictures of the pubes, hairs and dust. They asked if I notified it during my arrival and I said yes but I was tired when I got there at 12:30AM. I went straight to bed because I had to wake up at 6AM. This visit was for business but I would like a call because it's not fair to pay for a dirty bathroom.

Rude Front Desk

When I checked in around 1 am, the front desk lady was extremely rude and argumentive to me. She didn't great me, didn't say hello then, and she refused to stop house keeping from knocking on our door in the morning when we had two nights booked. Then the next day, I sent my son downstairs to ask for more toilet paper as we were out, and she argued with him about us needing it, was very rude to him and didn't want to give him a roll. we have stayed here before and did not have this horrible customer service the first time. Everything else was fine with our room, just the lady that works nights should find a new job as she clearly hates this one and takes it out on her customers. She never recognized my IHG membership and I had to fight for late checkout as well. She didn't let me spin the wheel for extra points either.

The air conditioner situation is horrible. The bedroom doesn't have its own unit or proper ducting so it gets very hot and unbearable at night.

The air conditioning situation needs to be fixed immediately. You can't even open the windows to cool off. I would have wrote a great review but there was very little comfort at night due to lack of air circulation. You need to install ac units in the bedrooms and not rely on a fan the kicks out. 5 cfms

I have always liked this property. However, this time, upon check in, I was given a room that reeked of cheap air freshener. I immediately went back down to the desk and was then given a different room. It was worse than the first room. It smelled as if it had been a smoking room but was being "converted" into a non smoking room by spraying cheap, foul smelling air freshener. I went back down and spoke to the manager. He promised that "in the morning" I would be given a better room. At noon the next day I was given a very nice room that was perfect. That was good but I could not sleep the previous night due to the strong odor in the room. When I checked in, I was greeted as a "valued member" of their rewards program. I never play that card but I would expect as a "valued member" I would be treated as one.

very comfortable mattress but dirty floors all over!

We've stayed at this property for 4 years while our daughter was at UTRGV and we've noticed that it has slowly lost its clean appearance! It is a quiet and cozy spot and at the beginning it was clean!
The rooms are spacious and usually clean but this last visit even after asking they vacuum the floors for a second time, the person who cleaned/vacuumed it had no understanding of what clean the floors mean!!
There was glass in the bathroom and after the second cleaning the glass remained along with the dirt on the carpet! perhaps the vacuum cleaners don't work well but I would have thought the mop would have done the job in the bathroom where the broken glass was!
Lastly the smell of sewers was very dominant on the first floor by the elevators and Pool area! That was very offensive and definitely not inviting!!! Sorry but we will no longer be coming back!!

Welcome to the Holiday Inn Express Mechanicsburg PA .
We are certain that you will relax in our comfortable accommodations, and enjoy our central location near the area’s many businesses and most popular attractions. We are conveniently located off of Route 581 and Interstate 81 . We are located 15 minutes from Carlisle and Harrisburg.
Which means you can get to the Carlisle Fairgrounds or Government Offices within minutes. We are located in the middle of Chain Restaurants like Buffalo Wild wings, Longhorn Steak House, Applebee’s and Olive Garden as well as Wegman's and shopping centers.

Filthy and falling apart

I will never stay at this or any other Holiday Inn ever again. The reservation process took 45 min. The first room the thermostat did not work and everything was dirty. The second room that I was moved to was just as dirty. The shower water backed up, there were no shelves in the bathroom so the towels were left in the open closet in the hallway. It was horrible

My 1st room smelt sooooo bad that I had to request another one. Old, nasty carpet smell. My new was better in that regard but the bathroom wasn’t the cleanest. The breakfast options were depleted by 8:40 and the staff worker could care less when I inquired so I had to go out to eat for breakfast. Not the best stay

Hotel is nice and in good location. I have stayed here many times. This time however, they changed some things. They only service your room upon request or every 3 days! I learned this after the first day. Upon inquiring at the front desk why my room wasn't serviced, I was told "Holiday Inn Express is a green company" and we only do it every 3 days or upon request. That's false; I stay at HIE all the time and have not seen this since Covid. What angered me the most was that there was no sign or any indication of this in the lobby. I have seen this at other chains but they offer point in lieu of cleaning, etc. Definitely was not impressed by this cost savings measure, especially for over $200 per night...
