Short stay in Penang

The restaurant pricing in hotels is different to the local restaurants and hawkers stalls. We are paying taxes, service charge and our employees are paid above minimum wage and have social security. There is no licensing for all the Hawker stalls. Appreciate your liked the food and drink choices available.

Old Hotel in Desperate Need of Rejuvenation

Politely received and quickly checked in. The overwelming smell of air freshener covering up the smell of mold hit us as we got off the elevator was not a good sign - then we entered the room. Bedstand lamps with rusted bases, bathroom door with peeling veneer at the water damaged bottom of the door, ripped shower curtain, bathroom sink leaked on floor, toilet leaked around floor seal - and this was the room we were upgraded to. We were compensated by having our dinner charged removed. Staff was excellent. Without saying it staff know they are in an imposible situation.

A good spot to take a break

Warm welcome by the wonderful staff after 4 hours of driving to reach the hotel from KL. Checked into our rooms very quickly and managed to have a short nap before exploring the famous night market along the street just outside the hotel. A must eat is the APAM BALIK with 32 flavours. The stall is just opposite the hotel.Overall had a great time enjoying all the best food in Penang and a wonderful stay

Pretty Good

Enjoyed my time at the Holiday Inn catching up with family. The staff are very friendly and accomodating. The room I had was great and had a large outdoor area. The pool area is a little old fahioned being an older style resort. I also feel bad for the staff having to wear such awful dated uniforms.

Comfortable stay and great service

It was a nice experience altogether except for one. The curtain in the bathroom stunk. It seems like it is not dried properly after each use. It has the same smell by the refrigerator and that I could not explain....maybe the rug being used to clean is not really clean. It could use some mild air freshener.
