We checked in on a Sunday and it was immediately clear the floors had not been cleaned in days in the bathroom. I did that myself. But the carpets were worse. It took convincing to get sheets to cover all carpet space as it was disgusting to have my grandkids on that flooring. We were not given the option to change hotels as we had paid for a 3 night stay.

Needs a remodel

Spent 6 days on the road and spent every day in an IHG hotel. This was the most expensive stay of any and it was easily the worst in terms of needing a remodel. The carpet, shower curtain to the breakfast area. The bed was acceptable but if I have to stop Empouria again I will opt for another property. We were traveling with 3 other couples and I felt bad I had picked this property for our friends.

Corning, CA Guests Enjoy Hotel's Prime Location Positioned in a region rich in agriculture and just off Interstate 5 , the Holiday Inn Express® Hotel & Suites Corning is centrally located to accommodate all of your traveling needs. In addition to being near the great outdoors, we are just a short drive from nearby towns such as Red Bluff , Chico and Willows . We offer free wireless HSIA, an ample parking lot for large vehicles, meeting space, and a complimentary and hot breakfast. Feel free to use our business center or 24 hour fitness center as well. Because Corning is known for being the Olive Capital of the U.S., be sure to visit the Olive Pit and pick up some locally grown olives for the home. Rolling Hills Casino is also just within 2 miles. The Sacramento River is nearby, and nestled along the river is Woodson Bridge State Recreation Area where you can go fishing, boating and hiking.

Sofa bed a joke, air conditioner loud

I arrived late - 10:30pm. Sofa bed had no linens in it or anywhere in the room. Mattress on it was so bad with visible springs - yes some hotels do have nice sofa beds- we decided to grab our pad & sleeping bag in the carb. All settled and turn on ac because although it is 45 outside it felt like 75 in the room. Every 45-90 seconds the unit made a sound like foghorn jarring one from sleep. Couldn’t turn it off and open window because it was so loud outside. Windows really do keep the noise out here. At this point we were all so tired from hiking all day in Yosemite and driving here we didn’t want to deal with changing rooms

Disappointing Reward Experience

I used reward points and cash to book the room. The reservation assistant assisted in booking the room and mentioned that a complimentary breakfast was included with my reservation. I thought the 29000 points plus $69 cash was high but I justified the cost knowing that breakfast was included.
I went to the breakfast area at 630 am only to be told that breakfast was not included. I checked with the front desk and mentioned that when I booked the room I understood that all amenities were included with my reward stay.
The front desk said that it was not included and breakfast including tax was $15 w/tax for each occupant of my stay.
I went ahead and reluctantly agreed to the breakfast buffet charges. The scrambled eggs, bacon and potatoes were cold, they ran out of coffee and I had to wait 10 minutes before more coffee was set out. I was also informed that my platinum elite status was downgraded to "gold" and that only platinum elite get complimentary breakfast.
I was OK with the downgrade bc I have not traveled as much with my business even though I spent several years as a Platinum elite member but when I had to pay $15 per meal for a cold breakfast and long wait for coffee I was very disappointed with my stay. Especially when they ran out of hot coffee between 6:30 and 7:00 am when they only opened at 6 am I was very taken back by the, less than acceptable, breakfast buffet.
HIX has always been my first choice for business travel and this was rare that my experience with the Charleston West was very below what I have experienced with my loyalty to staying at a Holiday Inn Express.
I am curious to know how I was downgraded from Platinum to Gold and what do I need to do to get reinstated back to Platinum.

A modern airport hotel in Dusseldorf
The Holiday Inn Express® Düsseldorf Airport is located one mile away from Düsseldorf International Airport (DUS) , Germany’s third biggest airport.
We are also close to the Airport Train Station (Flughafen Bahnhof, Düsseldorf). From there on, you can access Düsseldorf Central Station (Düsseldorf Hauptbahnhof) within 10 minutes by train or by car will take you 20 minutes.
Explore the city center: one of Germany’s most famous shopping streets, the "Königsallee" where you will find numerous exclusive fashion designer stores. Düsseldorf has also the longest Bar in the world: the Altstadt (Oldtown) - with its hundreds of bars and restaurants.

Wir haben in diesem Hotel mit 16 Kollegen aus unserer Firma übernachtet. Die meisten fanden das Frühstück halbwegs OK. Wir hatten einen Vertrag abgeschlossen für ein Abendessen. Als wir dann das Restaurant betraten, schaute man mich mit großen Augen an. Danach wurde im Hintergrund geschaut, was mit unserem Vertrag war. Als Antwort bekam ich dann zu hören, das es Lieferschwierigkeiten gab. Wir haben uns darauf verständigt, dass wir dann aus der Karte ein 3-Gänge Menü wählen zum vertraglich vereinbarten Preis. Als ich mir die Speisekarte anschaute, war ich etwas überrascht über die Auswahl. Als "Vorspeise" konnte man sich etwas aus dem "Snack-Bereich" auswählen, sprich Flammkuchen oder Currywurst.
3 von 4 Flammkuchen waren dann kalt und die sogenannten Hauptspeisen waren auch mittelklassig.
Was ich allerdings sehr schlecht fand, war der Service. Es wurde so gut wie gar nicht nach Getränken gefragt. Und am Schluss wurden die Dessertteller über 30 Minuten vor uns stehen lassen und nicht abgeräumt.
