The room was not clean to a standard IHG. Noticed hair on sheets and towels. Shower and bathroom floor were not clean. Sink was very slow to drain. We were briefly visiting because of a death in our family and we were to drain to put energy in changing the below average room.

Could have been better

I always try to stay at Holiday Inn Express's when I travel, I will even go out of my way a bit to find one. With that being said, I was a disappointed with this stay. When I went on app to book a room, I was not able to, so I called and booked with them on the phone. I was looking to book 2 nights here. The agent only could book me 2 one-night stays in different rooms. She told me they might be able to keep me in same room, and when I get there to ask.
I arrived and was checking in and then asked about remaining in the same room and she wasn't sure she could do it and to check with staff in the morning. I then asked for a late check out as I am staying another night, she said she could not do it and that I need to ask in the morning but said she would put it in notes for next day.
My first night in my room, which was an adjoining room with a door between, was awful. I could hear the person next door loudly coughing all night and when he wasn't coughing, he was snoring loudly the rest of the time. I hardly slept from all the noise.
In the morning, I needed to leave early in the A.M and stopped at front desk to again ask for late check-out and asked about my room change for that next night, she said I could have late check out and she thought I would be able to keep same room and I said no that it was too loud with the door and the person next door, that I would want to move. She said because of staying another night they should have a room ready for me by 11:00.
At approximately 11:05 am I got a call on my cell asking if everything was ok and I said yes and that I would be back for my late checkout as I needed to take a shower. She said they were already in my room and that I was already checked out. So, I guess NO late check out like I was told that morning??
I arrived back at the hotel around 11:30 thinking my NEW room would be ready as I was told that morning, and it was not, and the desk person acted like she had no clue to my whole issue of late check out and getting a new room early. So I would say this place does not communicate with each other even though "Notes" were written each time for the next person, so they would know what was going on. I did wait about an hour and finally did get another room at about 12:30ish and the room was fine. I did ask for a late check out again too, but had to do it morning of, again.
The breakfast was good and fully stocked.
The front desk workers were friendly, but somehow, they need to work on their communication between workers. And why can't I ask for late check-out the night before? I have been a IHG member a long time too, I thought that came with benefits, like late checkout. Could have been better, spent a lot of time waiting and/or trying to get things worked out at the front desk.

Loud hotel stay

This hotel was close to what I needed to do this weekend, but was not particularly clean in the shared areas. I also dealt with a lot of noisy hotel guests, which is only somewhat IHG's fault. The room was fine for what I needed, but there was nothing at exceptional about my stay.

Door lock didn't work

We do not fault the front desk, but the door to our original room didn't work. Because of this, we were assigned to a new room. However, the new room was not made up. Because it wasn't planned to be used, the beds weren't made, and their were no towels. We had to go back to the front desk for the missing items.

good potential but various frustrating issues

I am a regular customer at this hotel. My last stay was by far the most disappointing, with an overall service level well below what I used to see.
The room service quality is going down. It is really difficult to get to talk to somebody. You can call and call again, and nobody would pick up. Every night, I had to call the reception to ask them to contact somebody from room service for me.
The food was also low quality. I ordered a chicken tajine on the first night. It was really just 3 pieces of chicken in a bit of juice. No vegetable at all in the tajine. The chicken was also very dry, as if it had been reheated in the microwave several time. The juice was not warm.
The second day, I ordered pasta arrabiata, thinking it was a safer bet. The pasta came cold, and instead of grated cheese, there were 2 slices of sliced cheese on top. Very underwhelming. Same thing on the 3rd day but at least I was expecting it.
The breakfast was really bad. The cheese was all melted in its tray (as if it had been left warm during the whole night). The room was really dirty, with crumbs on all the seats and tables, and tables not ready (missing cutlery, napkins, etc). One day none of the 3 coffee machines were working. The scrambled egg looked like soup, there was nobody at the omelette stand.
Last, the laundry service was also bad. They were also extremely difficult to get on the phone, and they would always need to be called and talked to in order to bring my clean laundry back in the room. If not, they would not bring it. At the end I cancelled my last night and went to another hotel.

Suites good for larger families. Some rooms in the hotel have poor sanitary conditions and shuttle service is unreliable.

Don't count on the airport shuttle service: For our group of 13 family members, including 6 children, we waited for more than an hour before hiring another transport service when the hotel's van didn't arrive. They have only 1 van/driver. Also, one of our three rooms we rented had a badly leaking A/C that soaked (oozing, squishy, brown liquid) more than 1/3 of the carpet in the room. Hotel said they had no other rooms available. Another one of our rooms had black mold along the shower glass partition.

The “oh well” experience

I had always had great experiences with IHG hotels, but my recent stay in Pensacola was disappointing. We had booked a spacious room for six; however, due to overbooking, we were given a much smaller room. This meant that the kids had to sleep on a rollaway bed that wasn’t even large enough, and the room itself was significantly smaller than what we had reserved. Additionally, there were not enough towels, and the smoke alarm was persistently chirping. When I called to ask why we received a room for fewer people instead of the confirmed room for six, I was essentially given the cold shoulder. The very least they could have done was to offer an additional room or cancel the reservation with a refund so we could secure proper accommodations.

Holiday Inn® Lancaster hotel is just off the M6, with easy access to the Lake District. The shops and attractions of Lancaster are a 10-minute drive away. Alternatively, leave the car in the hotel's free car park and catch a bus to the town centre from the stop outside the hotel. Lancaster Station is served by direct trains to Manchester. Blackpool Airport (BLK) is 40 minutes' drive from the hotel.
The hotel is just 20 minutes' drive from the scenic Lake District National Park. A 10-minute drive from the hotel, the 12th-century Lancaster Castle is surrounded by parkland. Nearby, the riverside Lancaster Maritime Museum occupies a former warehouse. Morecambe Bay, 20 minutes' drive from the hotel, offers coastal walks and seafront cafés. Lancaster University is easily accessible and only a 15 minutes' drive from the hotel.
Business guests are 20 minutes' drive from Heysham Power Station. At the hotel, you can host meetings for up to 100 people in seven flexible conference rooms with AV equipment and free WiFi.

Heating very hot

The hotel old and needs to be updated. The heating was far too hot and unable to control the temperature and the air conditioner was not working and broken. We booked a twin room and were given a disability room. I would recommend if you had a disability this would be a good room it was large room and the bathroom was large. Only issue for a disability it was a bath not a walk in shower. The staff were very helpful and friendly. The heating was far too hot.

Shuttle service not great

I want to give Miriam (who takes care of breakfast every morning) an excellent review. She kept the food trays full, was very helpful & ALWAYS had a smile.
The free shuttle service to the metro is not great. The advertised shuttle was one of the reasons we chose the hotel. Some drivers did not know where they were supposed to drop off & pick up. Frequently the driver was also one of the people working the check-in desk. One day we called for a pick up from the metro & were told they'd be there in 10 minutes, after waiting 20 minutes we called & were told someone was on the way. The driver showed up after 30 minutes. He was working the desk & helping someone when we first called & forgot about us until we called after waiting 20 minutes.
When we checked in we inquired about the hours the shuttle was available & was told the last call for pick up from metro is 9:45pm. When we called at 8:45pm the last night for a pick up I was told they had to find a driver. After 20 minutes of waiting I called back & was told the driver left early & we would have to take a bus, uber or taxi because they didn't have anyone to pick us up. Of course they didn't bother to keep track of who calls & call us back to let us know they didn't have a driver. They also didn't offer to reimburse us for the uber.
