We constantly travel and were so happy to finally get a self service laundry at this hotel. The staff were so great going out of their way. James walked outside to show us directions to places where we planned on going, he took the time to write down directions for the bus to places we were interested too. When the shower grab bar broke (and also prevented an injury), James quickly made arrangements for a new (and upgraded) room with walk in shower and we really appreciated it. Sabrina at the desk along with everyone else were always smiling and willing to help. But I have to say that James is one of the best hands on managers that I've met and he really went above and beyond (speaking from the experience of a manager in health care myself). I am very disappointed with my recent experience at this hotel. When I made the reservation, both the king room and the twin room were listed at the same price. However, upon arrival, I requested to switch from a king bed to a twin room and was told that I needed to pay a price difference. This makes absolutely no sense, as the prices were clearly the same at the time of booking.

The hotel was built of traditional style ;birds, ducks, peacocks, lake and the courtyard are very nice. And the hotel location is very good, close to the Buyecheng. The hotel service is also excellent, all the staff are professional and friendly.

The perks of being an ambassador is really rewarding, we were upgraded to suite room with good buffet breakfast. Staff are all nice and accommodating. We sometimes stay in Intercontinental Dalian on weekends as besides we enjoy staying in their room, their location is also accessible to big shopping malls, coffee shops, restaurants and train station.

called front desk, still cannot connect wifi via SMS (the code sending button was greyed), or access code, neither room number + last name. Front desk said need to send a IT person to my room to resolve it, but it was already midnight time so I declined. I may expect any other problem but not the wifi connection (I have no problem connecting wifi at other IHG hotel in China --- Holiday Inns, In InterContinental, Crown Plaza, Even hotels ....,)

It's maybe my 100th time staying here, I guess^_^. Hongqiao West meets all my expectations for an excellent HolidayInn hotel. I like its comfortable enviroment, its friendly staff and its professional services. I am familiar with many of its team and regard them as old friends.
